Co-Founder & Licensed Mental Heath Counselor AssociateEmily is a Co-Founder of Shore Thing Therapy and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate who believes growth is possible for everyone. She earned her graduate degree from Northwestern University and brings more than a decade of experience working in community organizations. Her clinical background spans prenatal and postnatal support, child and adolescent development, family dynamics, and individual counseling across the lifespan.
Emily specializes in holistic, person-centered counseling that emphasizes the connection between mind and body. She is especially passionate about supporting women in periods of transition, parents navigating new roles, and individuals balancing the many demands of daily life. As both a counselor and a new mom herself, Emily understands how overwhelming life’s stressors can feel and strives to create a space where clients know they do not have to face them alone.
Clients describe her approach as warm, collaborative, and empowering. Emily fosters a supportive environment where people can explore their experiences, strengthen resilience, and move toward lives that feel more balanced, authentic, and fulfilling.

Co-Founder & Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
Jayme is a Co-Founder of Shore Thing Therapy, a National Board Certified Counselor, and a PhD Candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision. She earned her graduate degree from Northwestern University and brings an integrative approach that blends narrative therapy, person-centered work, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Jayme specializes in helping adolescents, young adults, and individuals navigating grief, loss, or complex relationships. As a Certified Military Trauma Counselor, she also has extensive experience supporting service members and their families through the unique transitions and challenges of military life.
Her clients describe her as collaborative, warm, and grounding. She creates a supportive space where people can explore identity, process past experiences, and build resilience. With a focus on self-discovery and storytelling, Jayme empowers clients to live with authenticity, clarity, and purpose.

Licensed Independant Social Worker & Clinical Supervisor
Kati Tavares, LICSW, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island who has been practicing since 2009. She brings extensive experience working with individuals and couples navigating chronic illness, life transitions, relationship challenges, depression, and anxiety. Kati’s approach is grounded in compassion and presence, helping clients feel supported as they move through life’s complexities.
As both a clinician and a supervisor, Kati is committed to fostering growth and resilience. She works with supervisees in a way that honors their unique journey, encouraging trust in the process, intentional self-care, and the recognition that they already carry the tools they need within themselves.
Outside of her professional work, Kati is a wife and mom who values time with her family. She also enjoys yoga and has a long-standing passion for animal rescue, having once served as the volunteer director for a rescue organization in Dallas, Texas.

Standard therapy sessions at Shore Thing Therapy are 50 minutes. However, as a holistic, client-centered practice, we offer flexibility to tailor session lengths based on your individual needs and goals. Extended sessions may be available depending on insurance coverage and approval.

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and how we can work together. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We will move at your pace.

Yes. Your privacy is extremely important to us. Everything you share in therapy is kept confidential, with a few legal exceptions such as risk of harm to self or others, or in cases of abuse or neglect.

That is completely okay. Many people feel uncertain at first. You are welcome to schedule a consultation to ask questions and explore whether this feels like a good fit. No pressure, just support.

An initial intake session is $175. Follow-up sessions are $150. Rates may vary slightly depending on the service and provider. Please reach out if you have questions about costs or would like to discuss what option might work best for you.
